Literature suggests that oral contraception use increases blood pressure. Hence, there is reason to believe that oral contraception use before pregnancy might increase the risk of gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, and eclampsia.
Through this study, we sought to investigate the association between oral contraception use before pregnancy and the risk of 1) gestational hypertension, 2) pre-eclampsia, and 3) eclampsia. This study is conducted using data from the
Quebec Pregnancy Registry.
